“Zangief” is the founding sire of Northern Tier Hounds. He is a sweet natured and gentle boy who is the definition of a velcro dog. He loves his person and will happily play lap dog all day. He enjoys long naps and leisurely strolls with his friends.
He was bred by Renee McCartin of Mielikki’s Hunt Borzoi in Maryland. There are many strong running dogs and accomplished show dogs in his pedigree.
Raven was our pick boy from our first litter in 2019. He has the best personality on an intact dog that I could ever ask for. He is such a sweet boy. He is our first dual champion and our first bred by champion. He will always have a special place in our hearts. Breeding plans for Raven have been put on hold due to inconsistent holter reports.
Eastleigh is the pick girl from our first litter in 2019. She had a litter of puppies in 2022 and was a great mom! She is fast, strong, and snuggly and is my heart dog.
Johnnie is Eastleigh’s daughter from our third litter in 2022. She is the result of an outcross that I have wanted to do since I got into the breed and we are very please with her so far. Its amazing how much she is just like her grandpa!
Health Testing
Brynn, 2 years old
Brynn is from our second litter with Lady sired by GCH Satara’s The Desired Effect “Brexit”. She will contribute to the breeds heart study and hopefully be able to have a litter here with us.
Bandai is Brynn’s brother out of the same litter. He will also contribute to the breed heart study and has had a good holter result. He is a super goofy and fun boy.
Kitty was imported from Sweden in 2021. She comes from the Fair Isle kennel operated by Charlotta Brostromer. We brought her here with the intention of using her for an outcross breeding. Being an import her health history is relatively unknown but her testing so far has been clear.
Clifford was from our first litter. His parents are Lady and Zangief. He died at age 4 due to diaphragmatic hernia.
Lady is our foundation bitch and the mother of our first two litters. She died at age 6 of GDV.
Evija is from our first litter between Lady and Zangief. She died at age 3 from suspected sudden death arrhythmia.
Brexit was owned and bred by Danielle Steenkamp of Satara Borzoi in Texas. He is the sire of our second litter with Lady (Bandai, Brynn) and he died at age 6 of suspected sudden death arrhythmia.
Cedar is from our first litter between Lady and Zangief. He died at age 3 of suspected kidney complications and/or sudden death arrhythmia.
