Land O Lakes Kennel Club

The first weekend in January we attended the Land O Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show at the River Centre in St Paul, MN. We saw many old friends and admirers and made many new friends and acquaintances. This is our favorite show of the year and it never fails to disappoint. Justin showed Zangief to Select Dog on Sunday, earning two more points towards his Grand Championship title. On Saturday he helped my mom through her first time in the dog show ring and they did great together. I can’t wait for her to get in the ring with her own dog. Lady stayed at home, her coat hasn’t quite come back in yet since having puppies.

Speaking of the puppies- Gregory, Raven, Hammer, and Eastleigh joined us at the show for Meet The Breed on Saturday and they were a huge hit. They did so very well for their first big public outing. They were happy and curious and soaking up all the attention. Afterwards, Gregory went home to his new family in Denver, CO. He has already been hiking and exploring the mountain trails with his new brother Dewey. So the last pup has left the nest and I’ve been getting good feedback on all of the others. All puppies are settling into their new homes well.

Now begins the fun of training puppies for the show ring. Our next scheduled event is the Borzoi Club of America National Specialty in Albuquerque, NM the second week in April. It will be the puppies first show but a fun one none the less! Hammer, Eastleigh, Raven, and Nutmeg will all be shown in Puppy Sweepstakes. I can’t wait to see all the other puppies that were born this past year. I have been watching them on Facebook like crazy. I only plan on attending a few big shows this year. Id like to focus on lure coursing until the puppies are in their prime age for show.

As we head into the coldest part of the year, I am unable to take pictures as often as I like to. So there may be less updates. I know for sure I’ll tune in after Westminster to discuss the show, but my posting and photos will probably slow down for now.
